Brazil's grain production for the 2025/26 crop year is estimated at 360.1 million metric tons, up 2.2% from the last season, representing an increase of 7.8 million metric tons of grain to be harvested. This result reflects the larger area allocated to grain cultivation in the country, projected at 83.5 million hectares. The national average crop yield is expected to remain stable at 4,311 kilograms per hectare. The data are included in the 10th 2025/26 Grain Crop Survey, released July 14 by the National Supply Company (Conab).
The harvest of the three corn crops in the current season is estimated at 141.7 million metric tons, up 0.4% from the previous season. The first corn crop has already been almost entirely harvested, and production is estimated at 29.6 million metric tons. Second corn crop harvesting has reached 38.9% of the planted area, below the five-year average. Mato Grosso, the leading corn producer, experienced favorable weather conditions during the season, which contributed to the good growth of the second corn crop. In Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Piauí, however, the dry spells in April and May affected crop performance. Given this scenario, Conab expects 109.43 million metric tons to be harvested in the second corn crop. For the third crop, production is expected to reach 2.7 million metric tons. Currently, the low rainfall that has been occurring, especially in Sergipe and Alagoas, is affecting crop development.
With the harvest now complete, soybean production stands at 180.6 million metric tons, a 5.3% increase compared to the previous harvest, driven by a 2.7% rise in planted area, combined with the effective use of agricultural technologies by producers and favorable weather conditions. The rice harvest is also complete, with production totaling 11.1 million metric tons—13.1% below last season’s volume—reflecting a reduction in the planted area. As for beans, total estimated production stands at 3 million metric tons, 1.4% lower than the previous season. Even with the projected decline for these two important products for Brazilian consumption, the volume to be harvested ensures sufficient supply for the domestic market.
In this 10th survey, the Conab adjusted its estimates for carryover corn stocks for the 2025/26 crop year, as total corn production was revised to 141.7 million metric tons. As a result, the new forecast is for ending stocks of approximately 14.5 million metric tons as of January 31, 2027. The update to the cotton crop forecast also allowed for adjustments to the export forecast for cotton, which could reach 3.38 million metric tons, resulting in ending stocks of 2.67 million metric tons.
In the case of soybeans, the ending stock was revised to 8.8 million metric tons, reflecting an increase in soybean processing and exports, which were estimated in July at 62.57 million metric tons and 116.3 million metric tons, respectively.
